The Site

It’s now been over 3 years since I met my second wife Linda. We met on the internet in a widow and widowers chatroom on AOL. We met in person in October of ‘98, I visited again for two weeks in January of ‘99 and moved to Evansville Indiana in the spring of ‘99. We got hitched in January of the Millenium.

Linda now accuses me of marrying her for her backyard. I deny it, but will admit here that it’s true. Our backyard was meant for ponding.

That’s the land yacht I rented during my visit in the winter of ‘99. It wasn’t long before I was hatching plans for this unused pondscape ..er ...landscape. Let’s see..... remove a few trees here, terracing.... do I hear running water? It would be over two years before I broke ground.

7/29/01: This site was not without challenge. The grade made it was a no-brainer that there would be streams and waterfall features. That same feature made drainage and control of runoff a major issue throughout the construction and to this very day. After all, who am I with my 4 inch drainage pipe that I plan to control run off that the city storm sewer system cannot handle?

Gully washer downpours happen. All I want is not to have muddy water everytime it rains.
