Childhood
Picture

Vick's childhood was hard. With her father's enlistment in the Army upon the outbreak of the Second World War, Vick and her mom struggled to make ends meet. The joys of childhood had to be simple ones.

With the break up of her parents marriage, Vicky assumes some grown-up responsibilities, taking on much of the care of her younger brother Bobby, and shuttling between her father in the Bronx and her mother in Manhattan.

So Vick is thrust into the adult world without the chance to enjoy the normal carefree joys of childhood.

Vick soon grows up and at 15, strikes out on her own in the wilds of Manhattan.

Lured by the call of promised adventures and travel, she soon finds herself married and heading west. She gives birth to a son, John, in Chama, New Mexico and eventually settles in Denver, Colorado
